The Story of the two Hildegards

I come from a home marked by chaos and instability. As the oldest of three girls, and with my parents’ divorce unfolding early in my life, I instinctively trying to step into the role of caretaker — especially for my younger sisters. As you might imagine, this was going rather unsmooth as my sisters had their own mind. However, that sense of responsibility, of protecting and nurturing those I love, became the foundation of who I am.

My mother was not the guiding light I needed, and so from an early age, I began searching for strong, compassionate female role models. Thankfully, I found one in my grandmother — my father’s mother — who became the heart and anchor of my world. She was my rock, my teacher, and my constant reminder that resilience and grace can coexist beautifully.

When I was twelve, my school took us on a field trip to an ancient monastery over a thousand years old. There, I met a Catholic nun who would become my pen pal for two years. Those letters felt like a lifeboat, carrying warmth, wisdom, and a sense of connection that felt deeply maternal. Yet even then, the most profound influence in my life remained my grandmother.

She embodied strength in its most magical form. In her ninety-three years, I never once heard her complain. She cared tirelessly for one of her sons who became wheelchair-bound in his early twenties, and even in her final days, her only wish was that my father would continue to look after him. Her selflessness and quiet determination shaped my understanding of unconditional love — and of womanhood itself.

Fast forward to 2025, the year I made the decision to found Nina Moon. One evening, while scrolling through YouTube, I stumbled upon a video titled “Hildegard von Bingen: The Life of a Famous Nun.” The name startled me — my grandmother’s name was Hildegard, and she had once told me she was named after a nun. I pressed play out of curiosity, not realizing how deeply that moment would move me. My grandma died on August 28th, 2014, her funeral was on my birthday, September 5th. And yet, suddenly I felt her so close, closer that I had in years.

As I watched, I discovered that Hildegard von Bingen was born in 1098 — just half an hour from the place where my grandmother and I were both born in Germany. Despite years of schooling there, I had never learned about this extraordinary woman: a visionary writer, physician, composer, and healer who understood the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit. She worked with the healing powers of nature — plants, gems, and stones — and corresponded with popes, kings, and emperors, all while creating some of the most cherished music and literature of her time.

The parallels were uncanny. The same first name. The same birthplace. The same fierce spirit of compassion and strength.

In that moment, I felt something shift — as though my grandmother and Hildegard herself were whispering through time, reminding me of the lineage of resilience, intuition, and healing that I come from.

Nina Moon was born from that moment of the love and gratefulness I have for both Hildegards.
Through this space, I stive to honor both women — my grandmother Hildegard, whose love shaped my soul, and Saint Hildegard von Bingen, whose wisdom still illuminates our world centuries later.

This is my tribute to their legacy: to live, create, and serve in alignment with their light — nurturing the same strength, compassion, and connection to the sacred that has guided me all along.

Our vision

My vision is to build a bridge between generations — a living, breathing community where wisdom flows from one woman to another with kindness, respect, and curiosity. I want NinaMoon.com to be a home for every woman: the quiet rebuilder, the sensitive achiever, the young dreamer, the seasoned survivor, and the emerging leader. A place where we celebrate our differences, honor our truths, and learn from one another. I imagine a platform that highlights not only my voice, but the voices of younger women like my niece Emily — a future where their creativity, ideas, and brilliance are woven into the fabric of this community. This is a vision of shared strength, shared love, and shared community.

My mission

My mission is to create a sanctuary for women — a gentle, nourishing space where strength and softness can finally coexist. Through honest storytelling, meaningful guidance, and supportive tools, I help women rediscover their inner power, not through pressure or perfection, but through remembering who they truly are. I am here to uplift the women who have spent their whole lives being strong for everyone else, offering them comfort, clarity, and a sense of belonging. Behind every word, every offering, and every piece of this platform is one simple intention: to help women feel seen, supported, and deeply understood.

My dream

My dream is for NinaMoon to become a global circle of women who uplift, inspire, and transform one another’s lives. I dream of a world where women stop shrinking, stop apologizing, and start standing confidently in their gifts. A world where emotional intelligence is celebrated, where softness is seen as strength, and where community replaces comparison. I dream of creating a legacy for Emily and for all the young women who will grow up in her generation — a legacy of empowerment, connection, and compassionate guidance. My dream is that every woman who enters this space leaves feeling braver, clearer, lighter, and more connected to the incredible power she already holds within.
